Taste of Main Dishes for the Kids

The Children’s Response Center (CRC) is hosting the fifth annual Taste of Main on Bellevue’s acclaimed Main Street Aug. 17. The event will have dozens of local shops and restaurants offering their delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts for tasting. Wine tastings from 12 wineries will begin at 1 p.m. in shops along Main Street. There will also be musical performances, art gallery viewings, a car show, one-day-sales and many other special offers available during the event.

The goal for the CRC during Taste of Main is to raise awareness of the issue of abused children in the community.

“We are very thankful for these unique opportunities to reach the community in which we serve to better educate them about this pervasive issue,” says Sally Martinez, CRC Community Affairs Coordinator.

Founded in 1985, the CRC has been dedicated to providing essential legal and counseling services to children younger than 18 who have experienced severe abuse, trauma and child crimes in East and North King County.

 “It is tricky because this is a very sensitive topic since it is primarily sexual abuse. This issue crosses all socioeconomic levels and effects children in affluent families on the Eastside as well,” Sally says.

With Taste Of Main, the CRC hopes to get the name of the organization out into the community through all of the event advertising.

“These marketing materials all describe who CRC is and what we do. Hopefully people take the next step and go to our website and learn more about the issue and what we do to heal children,” Sally says.
