The Moore Center, an eating disorder clinic in Bellevue, recently opened their brand-new, 15,000-square-foot treatment facility. The center was founded by Bellevue Club member Dr. Mehri Moore, who said "The new facility is outfitted with all of the latest technology and provides our patients with a natural and peaceful treatment environment where recovery can be achieved."

The new facility includes two demonstration kitchens, a dining room, art studio, yoga studio, medical exam rooms and a classroom. The center has also expanded its staff, and now have more than 40 employees.

The center first opened in 1991 and has treated more than 5,000 patients. Dr. Moore was profiled in Reflections Magazine in September 2007. You can read that profile here.

Wellness Welcomes Wendy

We welcome Wendy Caamano to the Bellevue Club Wellness team!

Some will say there is not a simple prescription to prevent disease, ensure longevity and improve one’s overall health. Wendy respectfully disagrees. There may not be a single pill that solves our health concerns; however, there is a basic solution found in one’s lifestyle: a way of life rooted in nutrition and exercise. Wendy Caamano can help make this prescription of nutrition and exercise realistic and obtainable.

Wendy has her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and a Masters degree in Nutrition from Bastyr University. While receiving her Masters, Wendy also mentored under Joy Bauer, the "Today Show’s" Registered Dietitian.

In addition to her formalized education, Wendy has acquired a wealth of experience working with a diverse clientele in both clinical and community settings. Currently, Wendy specializes in nutrition counseling and practices philosophies such as intuitive eating. She works with clientele on topics ranging from sports nutrition and disordered eating, to many different disease states. As part of her ongoing practice, Wendy enjoys working with children and adolescents.
Wendy has an overwhelming passion for health and wellness. She is looking forward to bridging the gap between nutrition and health in our community, and helping individuals live longer, disease-free lives.

Glenfiddich

You might want to join us at the upcoming Whisky Dinner with Glenfiddich Whisky. On March 29, members and their guests are welcome to the Club for a whisky pairing dinner. Genfiddich was recently in the news, as a bottle of their Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve Single Malt Whisky sold at auction for $94,000. As one of only 11 bottles in the world, the sale shattered records for most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at auction.

While you might not get to try one of those particular 11 bottles, you will get to try five of Glenfiddich's finest. Starting at 6 p.m., learn about Glenfiddich Whisky while enjoying a delectable meal. Registration is $95, and can be done by calling 425-688-3384 or by emailing kaarink@bellevueclub.com.

BC Member Takes First and Second at Central Washington Karate Championship

Analise Butler, 11, took home two trophies at the 35th annual Central Washington Karate Championship. It's the largest tournament in the state of Washington.

Analise competed against 17 others in her division and took first in Kata. She also took second in Kumite, with only one point separating her and first place.

According to her coach, James Penor Sensei,  she devotes extra time to training to prepare for her competitions. "The results speak for themselves," James said.

She will compete this weekend in Oregon at the Robukai NW Classic.
