Walk for PKD Oct. 7

PKD, or polycystic kidney disease, is a genetic disorder characterized by the growth of numerous cysts in the kidneys. Eventually, it can lead to kidney failure.

The Seattle Walk for PKD raises money for the PKD Foundation, a group leading the fight to bring a treatment and cure to patients all over the world. The walk, at Green Lake in Seattle, starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7. The 5k takes you around the beautiful views of one of Seattle's favorite parks.

Long time Bellevue Club member Bruce Yates has formed a team with his company, called the Appropriate Balance Financial Strollers. They're busy raising money for the cause.

If you'd like to join the walk, or more more information, click here. Bruce's team page can be found here.

Escape from the Rock

On Sept. 9, many local kids took place in the "Escape from the Rock" triathlon All first place age-group finishers were Bellevue Club Swim Team swimmers (pictured above).

From L to R: Ellie Bailey won the 10 & younger division (1:26:14), Sophia Coco won the 11-12 year-old division (1:26:13) and David Conger won the 13-14 year-old division (1:01:39). Congrats to all three!

The event takes place annually on Mercer Island, and nearly 300 people competed this year. The triathlon featured a half-mile swim at Luther Burbank Park, a 12-mile out-and-back bike ride along I-90 and a 2.5-mile run along Luther Burbank's jog path.

Calling all home school families!

Do you home school and call the Bellevue Club home away from home? We're gauging interest in a monthly home school meet-up aimed at sharing projects and presentations, and connecting our home school families. If this is something you'd be interested in, please reach out to Katie Barth, Recreation Director, at katieb@bellevueclub.com or 425-688-3102.

PersonaliTEA

Personality is key. From diets, exercise routines and everything in-between, you can customize just about anything. Now, this even includes your cup of morning (or afternoon...or evening) tea.

An upcoming Bellevue Club event will allow you to make your own very special blend--a personal signature. The class begins with each participant choosing one or two bases from a selection of four (everyone will taste each base before choosing). Then, tea expert and class leader, Roberta Flur, will discuss the basics behind blending.

Using herbs and botanicals, members will then blend their flavors and walk away with their own personal tea blend, taking home two ounces of the creation.

This is an interactive workshop meant to be both fun and educational. With many antioxidant and immune-boosting properties, this little beverage packs a health punch. Let your taste buds fall into the new season in a totally customizable way.

To register for the event held on Tuesday, Oct. 2., from 7-8:30 p.m., contact Membership Director Kaarin Keil at kaarink@bellevueclub.com. Tickets are $45.
