Membership promotions at the 2010 Wellness Fair

The Bellevue Club's Wellness Fair is now less than two weeks away! If you have been thinking about joining, or have friends who have wanted to join, the June 5 Wellness Fair is the best opportunity there is.

Those who join during the Wellness Fair hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will receive $2,000 off family athletic membership initiation deposits ($1,250 off single athletic membership initiation deposits) and a $500 Bellevue Club gift card to use anywhere in the Club.

Members who refer their friends and family during the Fair will receive up to $250 in referral credits.

But that isn't all that is going on. Stop by the Club during the Wellness Fair and participate in free salsa and ballroom dance classes, an all-ages dodgeball tournament, free fitness classes, free yoga classes, free Pilates classes, free paraffin dips and chair massages from The Spa at the Bellevue Club and more.

Your kids will have fun, too: attend free Kindermusik classes, play on the inflatable floating obstacle course in the pool or inflatable bouncy slide in the gym, and try a round of Wii tennis.

Visit the Wellness Fair website for more information.

Cue the Music!

It may be just a song, but to babies and toddlers it is so much more.

Studies have shown that music can have a positive effect on young children's cognitive, emotional and even physical development. "I've watched children develop so much after six weeks," says Amy Condie, the Club's Kindermusik Instructor. No stranger to music herself, Amy comes from an extremely musical family and is a formally trained vocalist. "My whole family plays instruments," she says.

The Kindermusik program is a combination of musical learning activities and connections between parents and their children. Children learn fun songs, rhythms and movements. "We have songs for bath time, nap time, story time—babies and toddlers start to associate words with actions through song," Amy says. "I just love seeing the reactions of the kids as they start to respond to musical sounds, instruments and play."

In the Club's four different Kindermusik classes with age categories up to 5 years old, each session includes musical diversity, instrument play, dance and social interaction. As the children develop, Amy says they begin to focus on imagination and creativity. "In the older class, we do a lot of creative play," she says.

The cornerstone of the Kindermusik experience is in the social interaction for both parents and children. "Children start to recognize each other around 18 months of age and they begin to develop friendships," Amy says. "It's alaso a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents with children of the same age."

According to Amy, it's a toss up between who enjoys Kindermusik more, parents or children. "It's probably even," she says.

Go Wild or visit Egypt this summer

At the Bellevue Club, our science adventure camps are anything but boring.

If your 6- to 11-year-old loves animals, bugs and plants, sign them up for Go Wild Camp June 21-25. In this week-long camp, children will build a nature kit complete with microscope, bug cage and binoculars. They will also get to meet live animals face-to-face!

If pyramids, mummies and hieroglyphs are intriguing to your child, he or she will love our Mystery of the Pharaoh's Treasure Camp Aug. 23-27. Participants get to decipher hieroglyphics, investigate the secret of the sands, predict the rising of the stars to unearth a mummy and take home a share of the gold.

Both camps run from 9 a.m.-noon and are for children 6-11. Register online or call the Athletic Services Desk at 688.3177.

Escape the city and find adventure!

Take a break in the coming months to experience river rafting. These adventures on the water don't even require an entire weekend. With the Bellevue Club, you can have the time of your life and still sleep in your own bed at night. Our river rafting trips provide adrenaline pumping action, beautiful scenery and family fun! These whitewater rafting trips are on rivers right here in Washington state, and most are within a two-hour drive of the Seattle area.

Close by, cost efficient and tons of fun! So why wait? More information can be found here.

The playground comes to the Bellevue Club

Four-Square, Kick the Can and Capture the Flag. Does the thought of those games bring you back to your grade school days when you could be on the playground without a worry in your mind? Well, it is time to bring that experience to the children of the Bellevue Club.

We will be kicking summer off by making good memories and friends in Sports Camp: Playground Games, June 21-25. Children ages 6-10 will experience skills, drills and swimming during this weeklong camp. Camp runs from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Sports Camp: Playground Games isn't the only camp this summer. For a full list of camps, or to register your four-square champion, visit our Summer Camps website or call the Athletic Services Desk at 688.3177.

Improve your mental golf game

The warmer weather is approaching, bringing with it more temptations to skip that afternoon in the office for an afternoon in the fresh air. But is your golf game not improving as you want it to? The Bellevue Club is once again bringing Bill Meyer to the front of a class that will help you lower your golf scores, gain more confidence, strengthen your short game, experience less frustration, develop more consistency, stretch your comfort zone and simply have more fun.

Bill is a long-time Club member who is nationally recognized as a public speaker and trainer. He has coached, taught, researched, tested and played his way to discovering the best results-oriented tools and techniques for golf.

Bill was featured in Reflections Magazine one year ago. You can read that story here.

His seminar is on Saturday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It's $115 for members, $135 for guests, $85 for students and $95 for student guests. This price includes the seminar and a lunch buffet.
