PersonaliTEA

Personality is key. From diets, exercise routines and everything in-between, you can customize just about anything. Now, this even includes your cup of morning (or afternoon...or evening) tea.

An upcoming Bellevue Club event will allow you to make your own very special blend--a personal signature. The class begins with each participant choosing one or two bases from a selection of four (everyone will taste each base before choosing). Then, tea expert and class leader, Roberta Flur, will discuss the basics behind blending.

Using herbs and botanicals, members will then blend their flavors and walk away with their own personal tea blend, taking home two ounces of the creation.

This is an interactive workshop meant to be both fun and educational. With many antioxidant and immune-boosting properties, this little beverage packs a health punch. Let your taste buds fall into the new season in a totally customizable way.

To register for the event held on Tuesday, Oct. 2., from 7-8:30 p.m., contact Membership Director Kaarin Keil at kaarink@bellevueclub.com. Tickets are $45.

New Splash Spirits

In keeping with our program of serving local wine and beer whenever possible, Splash Manager, Michael Gardner has decided to branch out into the spirit world.

Splash is proud to announce the addition of three locally made spirits to the menu.

Woodinville Whiskey Co. Bourbon
With its “small barrel craftsmanship," this bourbon is entirely handmade in their Woodinville distillery in signature small barrels. The result is flavorful and balanced bourbon best served “neat” or “on the rocks.”

Captive Spirits of Seattle Big Gin
This is a classic English Dry Gin with a burnt orange and juniper nose and makes for an amazing dry martini or gin and tonic…truly classic.

Project V Distillery and Sausage Co’s Silo One Vodka
Silo One is handcrafted from winter wheat grown outside of Winthrop Washington continuously since 1889.

To quote the distillers, “It is a labor of love and makes damn fine booze!"

We hope you take the time to stop by Splash, have a bite, a sip and enjoy the last days of our beautiful pool and deck of the season.

Cheers!

BC's James Penor Sensei takes first in NW Senior Games

During the last weekend in May, BC's karate instructor, James Penor Sensei placed first in long jump and second in high jump during the Northwest Senior Games.

"I wasn't sure what to expect; however, I found it fun, and all the competitors were real enthusiastic and positive."

James participated in track and field back in elementary school, and competed every year in the sport until the age of 14, when he jumped 14 feet. "I thought since it was an Olympic year, it woud be fun to reignite the spirit," he said. "The best thing about this weekend was that I met an old rival, competitor from way back in the day at the high jump pit, where we competed head to head."

James attributes his ability to compete in the games to all of the time he spends performing Martial Arts, training week after week.

Next month, on Monday, July 16, James will be teaching a self-defense class at the Club. He will teach the class with the street legal weapon his Sensei developed, the Kubotan. This weapon, a five-inch plastic or aluminum key chain, has been used by millions throughout the world, and with proper use, is both effective and practical for all.

No Martial Arts experience is necessary for the class. To reserve a spot, contact Membership Director Kaarin Keil at kaarink@bellevueclub.com.
