VillageTheatre's KIDSTAGE presents: Hairspray!

Village Theatre KIDSTAGE’s Summerstock program presents a larger than life production of Hairspray, with a cast of 46.

KIDSTAGE’s SummerStock program provides an opportunity for young people, ages 8-18, to join together to perform on the Mainstage with the support of Village Theatre professionals. SummerStock is the perfect answer for the passionate performer looking to stay happy and very busy in the summer months. The musical is fully directed and designed by theatre professionals and features a live orchestra, beautiful sets, costumes, lighting, and sound.

This production is co-directed by Mainstage veterans Kathryn Van Meter (also choreographing Hairspray) and Eric Polani Jensen. Many Mainstage theatre-goers will remember Kathryn in the casts of such popular shows as Show Boat (Ellie May Chipley) and Cats (Jennyanydots); where you may have experienced her work without knowing it was in such shows as The Gypsy King (Mainstage, 2010) and Little Women (Mainstage, 2008) where she served as choreographer. Eric is well-known by Mainstage audiences for his turn as Beast in the 2008-2009 production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Eric regularly performs for the Mainstage and is currently in the critically acclaimed production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

The KIDSTAGE production of Hairspray is a full scale musical with scenic and lighting design by Alex Berry; costume design by Chelsea Blum; and sound design by Kevin Heard. The cast of Hairspray has students from these cities: Auburn, Bellevue, Bothell, Burien, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Kirkland, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Mountlake Terrace, North Bend, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, Seattle, Snoqualmie, and Woodinville.
